E4D Same-Day Dental Crowns Rowley

The Fast Track to a Restored Smile

Close-up of woman’s beautiful smile with an E4D crown

Traditional methods of creating dental crowns require at least two appointments. That is because the dentist must coordinate closely with a dental lab to create the restoration. While that process works, it is not particularly efficient. In our Rowley dental practice, we do things differently. Thanks to remarkable E4D CAD/CAM technology from Planmeca, we can create same-day dental crowns right here in our office! Continue reading below to learn more about this amazing process.

What Are E4D Same-Day Dental Crowns?

A dental crown is a custom-made cap designed to cover a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and function. Crowns are commonly used to protect teeth after large fillings, root canals, or fractures, and they improve both the appearance and durability of the affected tooth. The crown fits snugly over the prepared tooth, helping to prevent further damage and allowing the patient to chew and speak normally.

An E4D same-day crown is a modern solution that uses advanced CAD/CAM technology to design and fabricate a crown right in our dental office during a single visit. Unlike traditional crowns, which require multiple appointments and temporary crowns while waiting for a lab-made restoration, E4D crowns are made quickly and precisely on-site. This means you can enjoy a restored smile in just a few hours.

The Process of Getting an E4D Same-Day Dental Crown

The process of creating a same-day dental crown involves five basic steps:

  • Preparation: We remove a small amount of the tooth’s enamel so it will fit well beneath its new restoration.
  • Dental scan: We use the Planmeca PlanScan Scanner® to capture precise digital impressions of your prepared tooth.
  • Designing your restoration: The captured impression is available right away on a nearby monitor. We use CAD technology to design your beautiful new crown.
  • Creating the crown: The design of your crown gets sent to our Planmeca PlanMill 40®, which is an in-office milling unit that shapes a block of dental ceramic into your ideal crown.
  • Placement: We verify that the crown meets our strict quality standards and make any necessary adjustments before placing it on your tooth.

Benefits of E4D Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns

E4D Planmeca crowns offer some amazing benefits compared to traditional restorations:

  • Save time: You can receive your permanent crown in a single visit, eliminating the need for multiple appointments.
  • No temporary crowns: You avoid wearing a temporary crown, which can sometimes be uncomfortable or prone to dislodgement between visits.
  • Immediate results: You leave the dental office with your final restoration, so you immediately regain full function and appearance of your tooth.
  • Precise fit: Advanced digital scanning technology creates an extremely accurate model of your tooth, resulting in a crown that fits perfectly.
  • Enhanced comfort: Digital impressions are more comfortable than traditional molds, making your appointment easier and less messy.
  • Durability: The materials used for same-day crowns are strong and long-lasting, making them just as reliable as traditional crowns.
  • Reduced risk of complications: Because the procedure is completed in one day, there is less chance for temporary crowns to break or for your tooth to become sensitive or infected while waiting.
